For several years, the BlueModus Team has participated in an annual canned food drive near Thanksgiving which resulted in donating hundreds of cans and boxes of non-perishable food to a local food bank. This year the team wanted to continue our support – especially with the need so great in 2020.
Hunger can affect people from all walks of life. Many Americans are one job loss or medical crisis away from food insecurity. According to the USDA's latest Household Food Insecurity in the United States report, more than 35 million people in the United States struggled with hunger in 2019. Because of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, the number of people expected to experience food insecurity is expected to climb to more than 50 million in the United States, including a potential 17 million children.
“One of the things I love most about BlueModus is the selflessness of the entire team, shares BlueModus Associate Solution Lead, Jen Wolke. “During these challenging times, it is more important than ever to spread compassion and I am honored to work with such a caring and unselfish group of people.”
Faced with the new situation of a fully remote team during the pandemic, our colleague, Jen Wolke helped to lead a BlueModus fundraiser with Feeding America to help support those in need across our country. Throughout the first half of November, our team members raised $2,930 to benefit Feeding America, which included a $500 contribution from BlueModus itself.
“I remain very proud and humbled by the generosity of the BlueModus Team,” says BlueModus’ President and COO, Tom Whittaker. “Not only do they support and care for each other and our clients, but they go above and beyond to support their individual communities with events throughout the year that allow us all to give back.”
For 40 years, Feeding America has responded to the hunger crisis in America by providing food to people in need through a nationwide network of food banks. Feeding America is the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization—a powerful and efficient network of 200 food banks across the country. Annually they feed 40 million people at risk of hunger, including 12 million children and 7 million seniors.
