BlueModus Makes $1,000 Donation to Foster Source

As part of its ongoing campaign to give back to the community, BlueModus has made a $1,000 donation to Foster Source, a Colorado non-profit organization with a mission to provide relevant training, resources, and support to foster parents to provide them the skills and confidence to spark healing in vulnerable children.

The founders of Foster Source, through their own experience, recognized how challenging and emotionally taxing foster parenting can be. A large majority of new foster parents quit within the first two years due to feeling overwhelmed and unprepared for parenting children from traumatic backgrounds, which has caused a severe shortage of foster parents in Colorado.

To aid with this great need for foster parent support, Foster Source has created free training classes which are taught from a trauma-informed approach, to help foster parents learn new skills to meet children where they are, and to better begin the healing process. Each class includes free childcare, which gives foster parents two hours of respite, as well as their foster children time to spend with other children in care. Their resources and services are designed to make the foster parenting experience softer, leading children to experience appropriate family experiences with more trust and comfort.

“Foster Source provides fantastic training and support for foster parents,” shares Jen Wolke, a Senior Web Developer at BlueModus, who chose this month’s charity. “It has also been an invaluable resource to my own family as we have navigated our journey as foster parents.”
