This past month, the entire BlueModus team convened in Denver, Colorado, for its annual gathering called “BlueModus Day.” In this unique tradition, every BlueModus colleague from across the United States traveled to the Denver headquarters for a day of team bonding and a variety of fun group activities.
With the steady growth BlueModus has seen over the past several years, BlueModus Day allows colleagues who normally work from home offices the opportunity to connect with each other face-to-face, as well as provides the chance for nearly 100 team members from Denver and 23 other states to get to know each better other outside of a workplace setting.
“I was very impressed with the amount of effort and planning that went into this event,” says Alan Chavis, Senior DevOps Engineer. “What a truly amazing experience it was to meet so many of the wonderful people I work with in person!”
The morning began with a tough, but fun choice: Colleagues got to select from any of five great activities: Zip lining, Topgolf, hiking, Go-Kart racing, and crafting. Then after a delicious group lunch, the whole team spent the afternoon learning how to play “Archery Dodgeball,” a unique competition where two teams battled it out in an arena using bows and foam-tipped arrows. Colleagues also had the opportunity to tour a local distillery. The day wrapped up with a team dinner that allowed the many remote colleagues to unwind and share their day’s experiences with each other.
“I had a fantastic time at BlueModus Day meeting new colleagues and reconnecting with longer-tenured ones,” shares Web Development Lead Jen Wolke. “While the activities and food were fantastic, even better was the comradery and opportunity to gather in one place and celebrate the most important aspect of BlueModus - the people.”
“There is always a bit of isolation when you work from home,” adds Senior Project Manager Tisha Looker, “But events like BlueModus Day, where you get to meet with colleagues across the country, really helps in making true and honest connections with great co-workers”
In addition to this annual Denver event, in 2019 BlueModus also kicked off a series or smaller regional meet-ups in cities including Nashville, Austin, and Seattle. If you’d like to learn more about what our colleagues at BlueModus have been doing, check out the latest team articles on our website.
